DEAN Close School in Cheltenham, U.K., is to tour Uganda from February 11- 20 to play a series of cricket matches. The games are organised by the Uganda Cricket Association.

Leading the tourists is Rev. Canon Stephen Coulson locally known to Ugandans as “Rev. Mugerwa”. Mugerwa and his family worked with the Church of Uganda from 1992 to 2000.

Mugerwa told The New Vision from Cheltenham that the management of Dean Close has long been asking for this sporting and educational trip. He said he was so excited at returning to Uganda to renew old acquaintances and be part of this friendship tour.

UCA chairman Latimer Mukasa has said Dean School will be catering for their travel, and stay in the country while the local cricket body will have to provide internal transport, refreshments after matches and some other requirements.

The visiting team will is scheduled to play against King’s College Budo, Ntare High, Nyakasura, a Select Schools XI, the Abagarusi, and the Uganda U-19s.

A number of students from families in Uganda attend Dean Close School, and Kampala tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia who is sponsoring part of the tour, will be hosting the team at a special reception on February 18 at the Kabira Country Club.
