— The high rate of crime in the district should be blamed on youth who smoke bhangi, the CID chief has said. Enoch Ndyomugyenyi also blamed residents for not helping the Police to identify gardens of marijuana for destruction. He was addressing journalists at Fort Portal Police station on Monday.

LC5 appeals
RAKAI
— The LC5 chairperson has appealed to NGOs in the district to support the functional adult literacy programme. Vincent semakula said many districts were likely to fail because of high illiteracy levels. He was recently addressing the district budget conference at Serona Hotel in Kyotera.

NGO aids
KABAROLE
— Christ Aid International, a local NGO, has donated items worth sh18m to the elderly and the youth. The NGO’s president, David mporampora, handed over the items at Kamengo Primary School recently.
