Die real death!
Just moments after he had promoted to the rank of major-general of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, Kahinda Otafiire (right) made another of his hard-to-stomach statements. He was quoted on Radio Simba on Tuesday as wondering why so many people were threatening to die over this thing called federalism. “Why don’t you die for something worthwhile?” he asked. He then advised the federo diehards to commit suicide. “If you want to die, just go and jump into the lake,” said Otafiire!

Vibrant Ssempala
It is not common for Ugandan envoys to be well known to local leading journalists of their countries. However, it is a different case with Uganda’s ambassador to the USA, Edith Ssempala. Once, a New Vision journalist told two American journalists from the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times he met in Germany that he was Ugandan. They said, “Oh yes. Your country has got a very vibrant and hard-working ambassador in Washington.” Well, keep up the good work, Ms Ssempala.

Like father like son?
Whoever has been wondering where Ken Lukyamuzi, the MP for Rubaga South (right, got his strike antics from should not wrack his brain any more. Apparently, John Lukyamuzi got this behaviour from his father, John Chrisestom Lukyamuzi. In 1953, when King Edward Frederick Mutesa II was sent into exile in Britain for refusing to sign the East African Federation treaty prepared by the Colonial Office, John Chrisestom Lukyamuzi, vowed he would not shave his beard until the Kabaka was returned to Mengo. He also decide he would most of the time dress in olubugo (bark-cloth) — a sign of mourning in Buganda — until the Kabaka came back. Like father, like son?

Sebaggala raps DP
THE Democratic Party (DP) will not take over power because of the existence of tribalism among its leaders, former Kampala mayor Ahajji Nasser Sebaggala has said.
He said that the party’s leadership is composed of Baganda mainly from Masaka district, which he said is not good as the party is supposed to embrace the whole region for its success.
“I am not trying to break up DP as most people are claiming but rather to make sure that it comes to the forefront as a well respected party.”
