SIR— I wish to commend Members of Parliament and the Committee on Social Services for rejecting the proposal to raise tuition fees at Makerere University, a decision taken allegedly without the knowledge of the Ministry of Education and Sports.

This committee’s transparent inquiries on this matter and the subsequent wise ruling proved that they are really representatives of the people, and the peasants owe them a round of thunderous applause.

Such gestures are fundamental to the development of our society as this will enable more people to attain education in different disciplines, which underpin the development of our nation.
Please, keep it up!
