GULU residents have been warned against using polythene bags (<i>buveera</i>) for disposing human waste.

GULU residents have been warned against using polythene bags (buveera) for disposing human waste, reports Charles Mukiibi.

Mayor Alex Ojera ordered the victims to stop the practice and build pit latrines.
He was addressing LC1 chairpersons and assistant town clerks of Pece division recently.

Ojera said garbage collectors complained against the habit.

He said in 2001, Gulu was rated among the four cleanest districts but cautioned that this could change due to the poor disposal of human waste.

Ojera said the one garbage truck serving the four divisions was not enough.
