LRA rebels yesterday ambushed a UPDF truck killing four soldiers and two civilians.

The ambush comes after the expiry of a ceasefire declared by President Yoweri Museveni.

The incident took place at Amokolgwai, 10km north of Pader district headquarters.

UPDF 509 Brigade commander Lt. Col. Dick Olum said the dead civilians were women.

He said 20 civilians and 37 UPDF soldiers were injured in the ambush. He said Medicine Sans Frontiers (MSF-doctors without boundaries), International Medical Corps and Red Cross humanitarian organisations provided first aid to the casualties.

They were taken to Kitgum and Lira hospitals. Olum said the 15 rebels ambushed the truck as the soldiers returned from delivering food and salaries to Latanya detach.
Olum said MSF promised to cater for the medical bills of the civilians.
