<b>MPs request<br>KAMPALA</b> — Parliament has asked President Yoweri museveni to produce a list of all senior army officers in the National resistance Movement, who were members of the historical high command as of January 26,1986.

— Parliament has asked President Yoweri museveni to produce a list of all senior army officers in the National resistance Movement, who were members of the historical high command as of January 26,1986. The officers are supposed to be listed on the UPDF council. The parliamentary committee on defence was discussing the UPDF Bill 2004 on tuesday. They said the list supplied by defence minister Amama Mbabazi had been disputed.

Women’s Day
KAMPALA
— The Women’s Day celebrations slated for Tuesday, March 8, will be at Mpigi district Police grounds. The Permanent Secretary of the gender ministry, Ralph Ochan, in a statement on Wednesday said the theme of the celebrations would be ‘women’s role in wealth creation at the household level.’ He said the theme pointed to the efforts of the Government in enhancing the role of women in poverty eradication.

Idea opposed
KAMPALA
— MPs on the parliamentary committee on rules, discipline and privileges have opposed a motion seeking to include Mondays and Fridays on parliament’s working days. The committee chaired by Ben Wacha (Oyam north) yesterday said including the two days would de-link MPs from their electorates during the constitutional amendment period, when the electorates need their MPs most.

UNICEF hails
KAMPALA
— The UN children’s agency has hailed the Government for its cooperation during the agency’s work. UNICEF country representative Martin Mogwanja said this during his visit to the foreign affairs state minister Okello Oryem. A statement from the ministry yesterday said Mogwanja and Oryem discussed issues concerning children in armed conflict.
