SIR—I have struggled with stammering for 47 years. It is only in the last four years that I have made progress through a speech therapist.

Stammering or stuttering, affects 1% of the total adult population, while 4% of the children develop the speech disorder at some point during early development.
The Stuttering Foundation of America has helped people who stutter. The SFA provides a lot of free information books, videos and DVD.
