MPS on the parliamentary committee on rules, discipline and privileges should resist intimidation geared towards rushing them through the motion seeking to introduce open voting, the Democratic Party (DP) has said.

“It is fatal to rush through the amendment of the Constitution because you want to finish. You should not be antagonised. There must be quality work because posterity is very important,” DP president Dr. Paul Ssemogerere told the rules committee yesterday.

DP lawyer Erias Lukwago and the party spokesperson, Jude Mbabali, attended. They were submitting their views on a motion seeking to scrap secret voting.

Kasanda South MP Nyombi Thembo last year moved the motion during the constitutional amendment process.
