UGANDA Police and Kampala International University (KIU) have boosted the second MTN national athletics trials on Saturday by offering free transport to the venue in Kakira.

The two upcoming athletics clubs — Police and the Kansanga based KIU — offered to carry all athletes to Kakira and back to Kampala.

The trial will help local middle and long distance athletes to qualify for a number of international events including the World Athletics Championships and forthcoming commonwealth games.

Other athletes will be qualifying for the World Junior (Morocco), African youth (Egypt) and regional youth (Tanzania) championships.
MTN last week injected sh30m in UAF’s track and field championships.

Athletes, who win an event in the national trials, will also be awarded fully connected mobile phones at the national championship to be held in Namboole in June.

According to athletics official John Bananuka, transport can be got at 6.00am at City Square in Kampala.
