The President’s office has donated 23 bicycles worth sh2.5m to cyclists in Mbale town.
The bicycles were on Tuesday handed over to the beneficiaries by LC5 chairman Bernard Mujasi and vice-chairperson Swaliki Masokoyi Wasswa.
The mayor, Richard Masaba and the municipal division chairpersons were not invited for the hand over ceremony that took place at the old bus park.
Mujasi said the presence of the municipal council political leadership was not necessary while Masokoyi said it was an oversight.
“I think it was an oversight to have not informed them. However, we have had a problem with them whenever we invited them for functions at short notice,” Masokoyi said.
