FOR a day’s work, Africa light middleweight champion Badru “Mr Crush” Lusambya will be sh1.5m richer when he fights Zambian national champion Floyd “Six” Chongo on Sunday at Sabrina’s Pub in a non-title fight.
Lusambya was offered a sh1m purse by Kantoloze Senfuka, managing director of Moto Yoshi company, and sh0.2m by former pugilist Godfrey Nyakana at the launch of their “Do or Die” fight at Sabrina’s Pub yesterday. The star will earn sh0.3m as the official purse for his fight
“I hear that Zambians are drunkards. If Chongo is one of them then he will get drunk with my blows,” a clean-shaven Lusambya said at the pre-fight press conference.
Lusambya, who is 9-0-0(8 KOs), will use the fight as a build up to a world title shot in June.
“I really don’t like blowing my trumpet,” Chongo hit back. “I don’t travel all the way from Lusaka to lose here.”
The fight is promoted by Big Strikers Promotion International and is sponsored by Jomayi Property Consultants, Moto Yoshi, Uhuru Restaurant and Scandinavian Express.
Education Minister Geraldine Bitamazire, Sports State minister Charles Bakkabulindi, State Minister of Health Captain Mike Mukula and Army commander Aronda Nyakairima will attend.
