NAMASAGALI University has petitioned the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) to rescind their decision to close the institution, writes Abubaker Mukose.
NCHE revoked Namasagali’s licence due to lack of capacity to deliver higher education. The university lacks land and a governing council.
The deputy vice-chancellor, Simon Downie, dismissed the NCHE inspection report, saying the university was neither given any report of the inspection findings nor a hearing.
“They sent the inspection team over a year ago. Since the inspection, no report was issued to us and no discussion about the inspections has taken place,” he said.
