Akena mesmerized
Former president Milton Obote’s son, jimmy Akena left Kampala when he was a very young boy. Last week however, he came back to Uganda. According to those close to him, his first week in the country has been very eventful. “He was surprised to see the developments in Uganda, especially the radio stations where any politician can go and hull insults at the government without being arrested. He was also mesmerised by mobile phones ,” one of the people showing him around said. He has also been enjoying himself in the different restaurants around.

Is Mukula a Muslim?
State minister for health, Captain Mike Mukula is one person who knows a thing or two about firing up Movement supporters. While addressing Muslims last Friday, he looked as if had been a Muslim for years. He was dressed like a veteran Muslim cleric complete with a Muslim cap and and attire similar to a Muslim kanzu. He had apparently picked up a few Islamic words that he now and then recited to the jubilation of his audience.
“Islam is peace,” he shouted, before touching on another of the issues affecting Muslims at the moment. “What is wrong with marrying four women?” He asked. His audience jubilated. After firing them up, he asked them to support the Third Term!

Market in Lingira!
Kampala Mayor John Ssebaana Kizito was stunned when fishermen on Lingira Islands sent him an SOS asking him to help them access the sex workers who are being chased off Kampala streets. “We have got very few women on this island. This is why cases of defilement, rape and adultery are going up,” one of the residents said. He then requested Ssebaana to direct that sex workers should pay the island a visit and bridge the huge men to women deficit.

Dream on Winnie
Kampala City Council councillor, Winnie Makumbi is setting her targets on much higher prizes. Unofficially, she has said that she will stand for the post of prime minister of Buganda if and when the regional tier system comes into force. She will have to “fight” with the likes of Brig. Kasirye Gwanga for this. Winnie is also eyeing the Masaka District Women’s parliamentary seat if the Katikiro aspirations fail. Dream on Winnie.
