Case Western, in Cleveland, Ohio, is a highly respected university, established in 1826. It runs a research collaboration with Makerere University that started in 1992.

Bukenya yesterday travelled to the US for the awarding ceremony. He will be awarded his D.Sc (Honaris Causa) at the university’s campus in Cleveland, his office announced yesterday.

“I am extremely proud of the nomination, both as a person and as a scientist. My background is in medical research and this award, especially from Case Western, is a high achievement for me and for this country,” Bukenya said.
