LACK of competitive football at the grassroots is one of the causes of the decline of the game, according to former FUFA presidential aspirant Lawrence Mulindwa.

The Kitende SS director made the observation while concluding a tour in Western Uganda where he met FUFA delegates at Pelikan Hotel in Mbarara on Wednesday.

Mulindwa, who said his tour was not meant for seeking votes, pledged to donate trophies which teams in each of the 16 districts in the region would compete for. He also gave out two balls to each district Twenty seven of the 34 delegates in the region were present.
Mulindwa promised to facilitate instructors to train referees from the region.

He also promised to give a hand to Mbarara United and Kinyara FC in their League campaign.
