PATRICK Bageya will cease to be the Busia RDC if attempts by the district council to have him transferred succeed.

on Tuesday, the council passed a resolution demanding that the resident district commissioner (RDC) leaves, for interfering in the internal matters of the district.

District chairman Steven Wanyama yesterday said, “Bageya has no respect for district officials and he is blocking development.”

Finance secretary John Wafula Ogambo moved the motion at the Busia Community Hall.

Bageya said, “I am still in Busia. The council has no authority over me. My duty is to monitor government funds.” He said he was hated because he was against embezzlement.

“Councillors are awarding themselves tenders and doing shoddy work. I have the proof. I am a bad RDC because I don’t allow them to ‘eat’, but if I was, they would never allow me to leave,” he said.
He, however, said, “I can’t nail myself in Busia. If I am removed, I will go.”
