NEBBI — Over 50 cases and three deaths have been reported in Jonam county following a suspected cholera outbreak. The district surveillance officer, Benjamin wanican, yesterday said one person died at Pakwach health centre IV on Tuesday, while two others died in Pokwero in Panyango sub-county.

Bishop due
CANTERBURY — The Ugandan Bishop of birmingham, John Sentamu, has been appointed to sit on a panel investigating dioceses in dispute with their provincial authorities worldwide. A statement from the Anglican communion Office in canterbury yesterday said the 12-member panel would be chaired by the Rev. Dr. Peter Carnley of the Church of Austria.

Bail hearing
KAMPALA — Brigadier Henry Tumukunde returns to the General Court Martial at Makindye today for bail consideration. His lawyer Enos Tumusiime yesterday said former army commander Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu and Maj. Gen. Joram Mugume were ready to stand surety for Tumukunde.

ARUA — Koboko town council authorities have closed the magistrate’s court hall for lack of sanitary facilities. The town clerk, Ismail Onzu, yesterday said the offices of the national Forestry authority, the assistant chief administrative officer and the local administration Police, were also closed.

Police hold
KABALE — A student of Kabale National Teachers College was on Thursday arrested on suspicion of stealing drugs from Kabale regional referral hospital. The Police said they were holding Geoffrey Niwagaba and Bedan Tumukunde, the hospital’s pharmacy attendant.
