ARMY representatives in Parliament have been asked not to vote on the amendment to lift presidential term limits.
The appeal was made by James Mwandha (PWDs eastern), who said army officers were supposed to be non-partisan.

Sauda Mugerwa (Masaka) backed lifting of the term limits, saying, “The third term is for delivery and maturity”.

Capt. David Matovu (Kooki) said it was not a crime to lift the presidential term and have everybody compete.

Dr. Beatrice Wabudeya (Sironko) asked colleagues to support the referendum and vote ‘yes’.

Gender state minister Sam Bitangaro supported the lifting of term limits, saying in an era of competition, each party should be allowed to offer its best candidate.

Investment state minister Ssemakula Kiwanuka said the framers of the constitution put term limits because of Uganda’s tyrannical past.
