A UK-BASED Ugandan, also a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) sympathiser, Dr. Joseph Bukenya Kyamanya, has accused security agencies of torturing him on his return to Uganda.

Kyamanya, a neuro-surgeon pursuing a master’s degree at Christ College, Cambridge University, yesterday said three unidentified men kidnapped him at Bwebajja on June 18, on his way to Kampala from Entebbe airport.

“It was a Saturday at 9:00pm. I found a slow-moving vehicle around a sharp bend. Three guys signalled me to stop and jumped into my car. They again ordered me to drive,” Bukenya narrated his ordeal to the press yesterday at FDC Villas in Najjanankumbi.

He said they checked his bag, his wallet and took his sim-cards and the diskettes but left his money. He said they ordered him to drive his car up to Luweero, where they let him go after about three hours of psychological torture.

“They questioned my credibility and asked me why I support FDC. As a surgeon, I see that these guys tortured me psychologically,” Bukenya said.

Bukenya, who suspects that the three guys were security officers, said, “The Government has a right to ask me anything they want, but they have to identify themselves.”
