THE head of mission at the Irish embassy, Martin O’fainin, has hailed the administration of St. Francis Nyenga Hospital for utilising donor funds to improve health services.

He made the remarks on Tuesday during a visit to the hospital, where the administrator, Sr. Jane Frances Nakafeero, showed him around the children’s and maternity wards.

“Thank you very much for having used very well the small amount of money that we give you to promote good health,” O’Fainin said.

He pledged more support to the hospital.
Nakafeero said Ireland had provided funding for structural renovation and provided medical equipment in the 2002/3, 2003/4 and 2004/5 financial years.

“We wish to share our appreciation on how your support has helped Nyenga Hospital to be more accessible, equitable, efficient and quality-conscious in the last financial year,” Nakafeero said.

She said cases of maternal and infant mortality had reduced in the district.
