THE High Court has ordered the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) to licence the Uganda Pentecostal University (UPU) without delay.
Lady Justice Stella Arach-Amoko made the order on Friday while delivering judgement in an appeal by UPU against NCHE’s refusal to grant it a provisional licence.
Amoko also directed NCHE to gazette UPU’s licence within 30 days.
Ordering NCHE to pay the costs of the appeal, Amoko said UPU would not have appealed if NCHE had complied with the requirement of the University and other Tertiary Institutions Act.
She said NCHE made a mistake in rejecting UPU’s application for a licence without giving it a hearing.
