Busoga sends off Bakowa

THOUSANDS of mourners from Busoga and dignitaries from various parts of the country converged at Mafubira, a Jinja suburb, for the burial of Samuel Andrew Bak-owa, who died in a helicopter crash on July 30.

THOUSANDS of mourners from Busoga and dignitaries from various parts of the country converged at Mafubira, a Jinja suburb, for the burial of Samuel Andrew Bak-owa, who died in a helicopter crash on July 30.

Bakowa together with the first vice-president of Sudan and leader of SPLA/M Dr. John Garanga and 11 other people died in a plane crash in southern Sudan.

Busoga Diocese bishop Michael Kyomya and other clergy led the funeral service.

Tears flowed as speaker after speaker, including Bakowa’s children, described him as a loving, dedicated, hardworking person of integrity.

Born on January 3, 1963, his last assignment was as counsellor and protocol officer at State House.
The minister of trade, tourism and industry, Daudi Migereko, who represented the Government, read President Yoweri Museveni’s condolence message .

Museveni said the country had suffered and described Bakowa as a hardworking and professional person, whose services would be greatly missed. He also said the family had lost a breadwinner.
