DP president Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere says they boycotted the referendum because it was useless. Speaking at a rally in Kira, Ssemogerere said, “freeing political parties was not automatic but a gradual process through DP’s efforts when it took the government to court.”

“NRM has metamorphosed and is a party like DP, UPC, FDC. It is not the NRM of the earlier days.

The newly elected Busiro South MP Joseph Balikuddembe has promised to offer free legal services to anyone police arrests from DP rallies. “you should stop fearing the police. Feel free to attend DP rallies, we shall rescue you if you are arrested,” he promised.

“Although it is not within our means as government to control the escalating fuel prices, the premier, Prof. Apolo Nsibambi, should bring to the House the strategic plan,” Lamwo county MP, Hillary Onek demanding national plan on increasing fuel prices.

Kira DP chairman, Kaloli Kiwanuka, has said, “I am determined to unseat the current Kyaddondo East MP, William Sitenda Ssebalu because he has failed to deliver.”
