OPPOSITION political parties yesterday said they would not challenge lifting of presidential term limits in court, but would seek to block President Yoweri Museveni’s bid to stay in power at the polls if he stands again.

“Going to court is not the best option. The best option is to fight it (third term) politically at the polls and even internationally. We have to show that this is a time bomb,” Democratic Party president general Dr. Paul Ssemogerere said.

Peter Walubiri, the Uganda People’s Congress legal adviser, said, “The matter is not legal. It is political.

When Museveni insists on standing again, that is not our problem. If there are free and fair elections, we shall trounce him.”

MP Salaamu Musumba, the interim leader of the Forum for Democratic Change, said, “Go to court for what? We are focusing on elections. I am happy that we can now put all our energies together and plan for elections.”
