A NEPHEW to jailed Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi was yesterday charged with inciting the murder of Kiyingi’s wife Robinah.
Laban Kiwanuka, a driver at Dehezi International, was arraigned before Buganda Road Court magistrate Olive Kazarwe. He denied the charges and was remanded in Luzira Prison until a September 13 hearing after he failed to secure bail. He did not have sureties.
The Police said Kiwanuka hired a UPDF soldier, Musa Nyanzi, to gun down Robinah.
The would-be assassin, however, turned down the deal and reported Kiwanuka to Robinah, who reported to the Police.
Robinah was on July 11 gunned down as she waited for her gate to open in Buziga, a Kampala suburb. The Police file said that in a statement, Robinah accused Kiwanuka of hiring Nyanzi to get rid of her.
She said Nyanzi claimed to be her husband and wanted to take over Dehezi, a computer firm.
Kiwanuka reportedly instructed Nyanzi to find Robinah at Kibuli Petrol Station.
“Kiwanuka instructed Nyanzi to find me at my home in Buziga if he failed to find me at the petrol station. He also gave the gunman the plot number and a map leading to the place,” read Robinah’s statement.
When the gunmen found Robinah, they explained to her their mission and who hired them.
Kiyingi and three others are on remand at Luzira Prison over the death. Kiwanuka becomes the fifth suspect in the case.
