ZAMBIA’S Mordecai Kabamba won the MTN Squash Open at Kampala Club on Saturday evening to claim his first title in Uganda.

The 28-year-old professional had no difficulties in an exciting final against Makerere University’s Paul Nkambwe beating him 9-2,9-0,7-9,9-0 in a game that lasted almost two hours and was watched by a packed gallery.

The Zambian won big on the drop and boost shots in a game that had several rallies.

“I really had fun playing with him. I set him up with long dropping shots because I knew he could run a lot and that was the only way to wear him down,” Kabamba said after the win. “I didn’t want to whitewash him. That is why I gave him the third set.”
