Dr. Nabwiso gets a bicycle

The First African Bicycle Information Office has donated a Jupiter heavy-duty bicycle to Kagoma county MP Dr. Frank Nabwiso to ease his movements after spending four years in parliament with no vehicle.

The First African Bicycle Information Office has donated a Jupiter heavy-duty bicycle to Kagoma county MP Dr. Frank Nabwiso to ease his movements after spending four years in parliament with no vehicle.
The organisation also recognised him for his persistent support to the promotion of non-motorised means of transport (NMT) and advocacy for a comprehensive transport policy that recognises accessible and affordable transport.
The MP is on record for reporting to parliament on bodaboda and using public transport for long distance trips.
While handing over the bicycle, the organisation’s programme manager, Patrick Kayemba, said Nabwiso had exhibited compassion to the marginalised and majority poor by identifying with them.
“You are a personal consumer, advocate and promoter of NMT that we give you this special recognition,†Kayemba said.
Nabwiso decried what he called the increasing extravagance in government.
“While some leaders in Scandinavian countries and others are riding bicycles to report for duty, in Uganda leaders show status by driving big cars,†Nabwiso said.
