Commission to probe Bunyoro land rows

PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni (right) has appointed a commission of inquiry into land and other issues in Bunyoro region comprising Hoima, Masindi and Kibaale districts.
Dr. Ruth Mukama was named chairperson, while James Kahooza and Levi Okodi are members.
Justus Karuhanga is secretary and counsel to the commission, a September 6 statement from State House said.
The commission will also inquire into inter-tribal relationships of communities living in Bunyoro, examine causes of conflicts there and make recommendations on how to co-exist peacefully.
It will also inquire into the politics of the region and any other matter that appears to it to be reasonable and in public interest.
The statement said the commission would make such ecommendations as it may consider appropriate in the public interest.
The commission is to report its findings in three months.
