POLICE FC have rejected the decision by the competitions’ committee to change the date of the final of the City Tyres Super League from September 14 to September 23.

Police are supposed to play SC Villa in the final.

In a September 7 letter to the competitions committee chairman by Police FC chairman Chris Opio, the cops stated it categorically that they would not accept the change. They said that they were just being taken for granted with decisions being taken behind their back as though they (Police) had no interest in the final.

“My club wishes to reiterate that its position as a finalist in this engagement deserves respect and its role in the final arrangement of the match should not be underestimated,” Opio said.

But competitions committee chairman was unmoved by Police’s decision saying that they were bound by regulations.

“There are always reasons behind such changes, but if one side refuses to honour the fixture, we, the organisers, turn to the regulations,” Kabenge said.

Reports close to the committee said the change was due to the KCC-Express Kakungulu Cup fixture. However the Kakungulu Cup draws were made much later after the City Tyres fixtures had been made.

Meanwhile youth committee chairman Edgar Watson will be among the Uganda delegation to the FIFA congress due in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh, to be led by Dr. James Sekajugo.
