A debate by the FUFA normalisation committee on Thursday on whether to extend their term in office and postpone the FUFA polls ended in stalemate.

According to sources, committee secretary Patrick Isiagi brought the idea arguing that Uganda needed to be well represented at the Nations Cup in Egypt and needs to finalise the Goal project early in the year.

Presidential aspirant Julius Kavuma Kabenge objected. The meeting failed to come to agreement and the issue was postponed for discussion next week.

Meanwhile, the mini-league competitions going on around the country have turned into a campaign ground.

In Tororo, where the Easter mini-league is taking place, delegates have confirmed they will support aspirant Lawrence Mulindwa.

Delegates led by regional boss and chairman of zone ten, Crispus Muyinda, confirmed their stand in a meeting with Mulindwa in Crystal Hotel.

Tororo football chairman and delegate Hussein Mwangu, Issa Musiwa (Sironko), Abdallah Ssemakula (Busia), Faisal Mohammed (Jinja), Lawrence Makubya (Jinja) all denounced Obua.

FIFA referee Yusuf Awuye (Iganga), former FIFA referee Ajab Waiswa (Iganga), Jamali Ngoobi (Tororo) and Musa Lubanga (Mayuge), who vowed to support Mulindwa, praised the St Mary’s Kitende SS boss for his continued support since government banned FUFA.

Mulindwa donated balls to eight teams that reached the quarter finals stage and gave Muyinda full jersey for the two teams that will reach the finals.
