How could the Kabira Country Club case be dismissed?

SIR — We have read with amusement a full page advertisement in the press by Kabira Country Club. Whereas Kabira Country Club in the advertisement suggests that they are innocent of any environmental crime and as such their Managing Director, Mr. Ruparelia’s case was dismissed, the very same advertisement acknowledges that they have been and continue to violate environmental and public health laws with impunity by discharging raw sewage into a residential neighbourhood.

They accept the problem is not over. It is still being handled by KCC and the National Water and Sewerage Corporation. Then why was the case dismissed?

They should have pleaded guilty! Whereas the ordinary man who drains or erects a stall near a wetland to earn a living faces the full wrath of the law, the rich who are the biggest offenders remain untouched! If NEMA and KCC do not deal with the issue of Kabira Club promptly, we shall deal with it ourselves.
