I wanted to take Betty to Cineplex at Garden City. She had told me she liked movies. I used to like films, those with reels and projectors, when we were still in school.

We would enter with girls and book the hindmost seat and romance throughout the film.
By the end of it, the girl would be pleading with you to look for a lodge even if she had to contribute something.

That way, I watched so many films, but I can’t tell you anything about them!

When videos came, they preferred smaller rooms on account of the usually small screens. And there is nothing much you can do when a small room is packed.

One time, I ventured to Cineplex and spent the entire movie remembering my history. That was how the Amendment Bill to lift terms on movies was passed and last weekend, I assented by inviting Betty to Cineplex.

But she told me she would delay and join me for the 9:30pm show. I agreed and told her to find me at The Venue. But knowing The Venue, I was in danger of being disarmed of the little package I had prepared to impress Betty.

Instead of dropping sweat before the main dance, I cut wisdom.
I went to a nearby joint called Corner Café. It is a stone’s throw from Garden City, at the junction where De Winton Road joins Yusuf Lule Road.

Their beer is sh1,700, and they have a wide range of snacks. I loved their sh1,500 goat meat.

The proprietor even came around to greet guests. She is a woman, who has struggled alone to make it what it is. And because of her gender, the Corner Cafe veranda has nice flowers and shrubs creating a green environment.

The waitresses are fast and polite, I wondered whether it was because their boss was around. I love businesses where the boss takes part. Things move the way they should somehow.

But there is only one loo, which must be a problem when revellers are many. I also wish she had DStv.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed all the time I was there and when Betty called to ask where I was seated, I told her I was in the loos, rushed to 4X4 and sped back to Garden City.
But we met at the entrance of Garden City. She saw me first and hooted.

When we parked our vehicles, she wanted an explanation about why I could drink from The Venue and go to susu outside Garden City.

She got annoyed and insisted that I must have been dropping some woman!

I don’t know where a woman like Betty gets the guts of demanding faithfulness when she knows I am married and dating her friend.
