PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has called for the immediate surrender of LRA rebel deputy chief Vincent Otti to UN peacekeepers in the DR Congo or risk being killed.
“Otti has fled to the DR Congo thinking that he will be safe there. The UPDF soldiers are ready to pursue him even deeper in Congo.
“He must surrender to the United Nations immediately and benefit from amnesty. If the UN does not get him, we shall do something about him. We cannot let anyone destabilise us from a neighbouring country,” Museveni told guests at the commissioning of Lira Spinning Mill on Wednesday.
“We pounded them from southern Sudan thoroughly until Otti and his group sought asylum in Congo. My job is to dino kal (Luo for thresh the millet) and deal with this criminal. We have diversified our army and we shall get them if he (Otti) refuses to give himself to the UN,” he added.
He said LRA chief Joseph Kony and his loyals were hiding north of Juba town in Sudan.
