FORMER IBF junior middleweight champion Kassim “The Dream” Ouma, starts a new chapter in his boxing career on October 13, with a new boxing staff as he makes his comeback with a fight against Alfredo Cuevas.

It will be the first time that Ouma (left), will be handled by the legendary Ronnie Shields in his first fight since losing the IBF belt to Russian Roman Karmazin in July.

“He always goes the distance, but hopefully I will knock him out,” Ouma, told boxing writer Ray Campbell in an interview at his training base in Houston, Texas, where he has pitched camp recently.

“I got to look impressive. He is already talking; he is talking about how he is going to beat me. So I will see him about that when I get there with him.”

The Ugandan fighter’s knockout record is low with 13 off his fights registered within the distance.
The former UPDF pugilist brought in Shields to improve on his cutting edge in the ring.

“I was behind on a lot of stuff, like slipping punches, instead of catching me I will be getting away and keep going,” he said.

About trainer Shields, Ouma said: “Well, I think he is a great trainer. He was supposed to train me from the time I arrived in this country (USA), but I ended up with Johnny Bumphus after working with Zab Judah.”

Shields has handled champions like Evander Holyfield, Jesus “El Matador” Chavez, Mike Tyson, David Tua, Vernon Forrest, Jesse James Leija and Raul Marquez.
WBC rates Ouma at 12 while IBF puts him at six.
