NEW FUFA returning officer Patrick Okanya is critically perusing through the local soccer body’s constitution before setting election dates.

“I want every decision I make to be protected by the constitution,” said the Kololo SSS deputy headmaster who was overwhelmingly appointed to the post at the FUFA extra-ordinary assembly on Saturday.

Okanya seems to be speaking from experience in a bid to avoid clashes his predecessor David Agong had with National Council of Sports. Okanya served as Agong’s deputy for two terms.

Okanya, who addresses a press conference today at Mengo, will man an electoral process that will start off with grassroots polls followed by presidential nominations. Elections for the president will wind up the FUFA normalisation process.

Meanwhile, Rwanda have dismissed Swedish coach Roger Palmgren after their failure to win a match over the last 12 months, officials confirmed on Monday.

The 40-year-old was in the job for 13 months, amassing a record of three draws and five losses in eight matches.
