THE Police in Mukono district are hunting for the headmaster of Royal Academy, a primary school in Bwaise, a city suburb, over the embezzlement of sh1.1m in registration fees from 34 candidates.

The district CID chief, Francis Rugiyehe, said Samuel Wabwire received sh20,000 as registration fee from each pupil and an additional sh15,000 from each pupil to transfer them to sit their Primary Leaving Examinations at a school in Mukono.

“His school has no centre number so he told the parents that he would register them in another school from where they would sit their exams,” Rugiyehe said on Saturday. He said the school’s director, Denis Kisekka, transported the pupils to Seeta Nazigo Primary School in Mukono on Thursday where they were to sit their exams.

The pupils missed their examinations which were done on Thursday and Friday. They said they were given different names and index numbers when they were at Nazigo.

On cross checking, the district inspector of schools, Prosper lwamasaka, found the pupils’ names were missing.
