THE Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) has opened a centre for adult learners who may have missed a chance to go to formal schools during their early days, writes Vision Reporter.

The YMCA secretary general, Robert Joseph Jumba, said the association had, in addition to professional studies, started a centre for ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels to cater for adults who may wish to complete their secondary school education.

Jumba said YMCA desired to dispel the old adage that ‘lack of formal education hurts at old age’, because many would benefit from this arrangement, which he said had been created to stay.

Jumba, a teacher, said their academic programmes were designed to run along other programmes for professional studies, which they offer at the YMCA headquarters in Kampala and at their other centres countrywide.
