<b>CHAI funds</b><br>KAYUNGA — The government has released sh300m Community-based HIV AIDS initiative (CHAI) money to fund AIDS groups in the district.

KAYUNGA — The government has released sh300m Community-based HIV AIDS initiative (CHAI) money to fund AIDS groups in the district. The district director of health services, Dr. Ahmed Musisi, told journalists at his office on Friday that over 60 AIDS groups had registered.

Police hunts

MUKONO — The Police are hunting for 30 capital offenders for absconding from court orders. The offenders, who were issued court bond, were instructed to report back to court after a particular period but they ignored it. They include 22 suspects on defilement cases, two on robbery, three on murder, two on infanticide and one for house breaking.

Guests weep

Entebbe — The chief guest at the TASO children’s Christmas party was a nine-year-old pupil of Entebbe Modern School, Jamaly Zuluficker who is living with HIV. He moved many guests to tears, when he said whenever he prays to god, he asks him to heal him from cough and stomach upsets. TASO manager Henry Muzoora said the centre would receive ARVs next year.

‘No toilets’

MASAKA — Over 200 fishmongers at Namirembe landing site in Kyanamukaka sub-county have decried the lack of toilet facilities at the site. They raised the concern before the district fisheries officer, Tom Bukenya, during a sensitisation meeting at the landing site on Monday. The meeting was aimed at educating them on the use of illegal fishing gear and immature fish.

Lubega eyes

RAKAI — Democratic Party member Damiano Lubega has declared his intention to contest for the Kyotera parliamentary seat. He was addressing a rally at Kalisizo new Taxi Park on Sunday.
