VERONIKA Studena, the Czech who won the Kampala leg of the ITF East Africa under-18 circuit recently bowed out in the quarter-finals on Sunday when she lost to Kenya's Wanjiku Ngaruiya at Parklands sports club.

VERONIKA Studena, the Czech who won the Kampala leg of the ITF East Africa under-18 circuit recently bowed out in the quarter-finals on Sunday when she lost to Kenya's Wanjiku Ngaruiya at Parklands sports club.
Ngaruiya’s rallies saw her come from one set down to win 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 against the number three seed.
“My focus now is on the number two seed, Suzelle Davin of Namibia, who eliminated me at the quarter-final stage in Kampala. I shall crash her in the semis,” she said.
Burundian Aziza Butoyi, seeded ninth, eliminated number four seed Sarah Cantlay of Great Britain 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
Kigali leg winner, Samia Mohammed of Sudan will meet top seed Nicole Smith of South Africa.
