THE director of public prosecution (DPP) has discontinued legal proceedings against two of the five men charged with the murder of Alfred Bongomin, the LC3 chief of Pabbo in Gulu district. Simon Byabakama, the deputy DPP, on Friday tendered in a letter to the High Court, withdrawing the charges against Walter Laryang and David ochieng. No reason was given for the withdrawal.

Army deploys

The UPDF has deployed soldiers in Soroti and Amuria districts to hunt down seven suspected LRA rebels alleged to have been cited in areas north of Soroti. The UPDF 3rd division commander, Col. Gavas Mugyenyi, on Sunday said they had combed the districts so far without any success, though residents maintained that wrong elements were cited.
