KAMPALA City Council (KCC) has ordered a private firm, Nterenfune General Enterprises, to restore the green belt at Bugolobi which it destroyed recently.

In a letter dated December 12, the town Clerk, James Sseggane, ordered the company to replant the grass and trees immediately.

The belt which lies on plot 43 Luthuli Avenue next to former coffee Marketing Board, was leased to Nterenfune Enterprises.

“The exercise of planting and restoration of the green must be technically guided. By copy of this letter, I am asking our principal parks supervisor to provide the required technical guidance,” the letter read.

The area, which stretches from Kalitunsi Road on Luthuli Avenue back to Spring Road, has telephone gadgets, sewer pipes and large pipes for drawing storm water into the Nakivubo channel.

Sseggane said the developer acted contrary to their plan when they cut the trees from a place they had suggested to develop into a modern green park.
