Top guns including seed 1 Patrick Olobo fought hard to advance to the semi finals of the Lugogo tennis Open yesterday.

Top guns including seed 1 Patrick Olobo fought hard to advance to the semi finals of the Lugogo tennis Open yesterday.

Olobo dropped a set before he overcame Duncan Mugabe 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3 in the men’s singles quarter-finals at Lugogo club. The two went for every ball before Olobo’s tactics prevailed.

The number 2 James Odongo beat 7th seed James Bayego in another closely contested game to storm the last four.

Odongo faces 4th seed Chris Bagaala while Olobo in up against seed 3 Herbert Buyinza in the semi-finals today.

In the men’s doubles, Olobo continued his winning ways with Bagaala to advance. He beat Ronald Ssemanda and Joe Olweny 6-4, 6-2.

The one-week competition ends on Saturday.
