HASSAN Saku consolidated his supremacy when he beat Kenya’s Caleb Amianda on points in an undercard bout at Kenyatta International conference conference centre in Nairobi on Christmas eve.

The fight preceded the historic World Boxing Federation middlweight bout between Kenya’s Conjestina Achieng and Argentine Guilleremina Fernandez that the Kenyan won on knockout after only two minutes of round one of the scheduled ten.

Saku, who beat Amianda on knock-out in Kampala recently, was in true form in the contest that thrilled thousands of fans who turned up to watch the WBF women clash that was held in Africa for the first time since 1974’s rumble in the jungle WBC fight between Mohammed Ali and George Foreman in Zaire(now DR Congo).

Despite the emphatic win Saku, like nine other boxers who featured in supporting bouts, were not paid after the promoter declined to pay the boxers saying they were invitation.

It was an embarassing scenario when boxers camped at KICC after the fight at 10pm demanding their dues but in vain, a situation that put the KPBC in a tight spot.

East Africa may witness more of world fights with Achieng due to fight again in March in a WBC contest.
