UGANDA Badminton Association (UBA) requires sh66m to effectively run their local calendar.

UBA has lined nine open tournaments, three more than what they have been holding.

According to the association coordinator Simon Mugabi, the money will enable them to successfully organise and offer prizes to the participants in the events spread throughout the year.

The federation has been blessed with sponsorship from Stanbic Bank and Civil Aviation Authority who have come on board to finance two tournaments in August and November.

The calendar will start with the ranking tournament at Lugogo January 27-29 before a series of open and school tournaments.
“That is for the local tournament.

We also anticipate to take part in international events. We are planning for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne,” said Mugabi.

Despite being invited to send players to different events like the Yonnex All England Open, UBA is looking at the Mauritius International and Thomas and Uber events in South Africa, and is all set for February as part of the Commonwealth Games preparations.
