Internal affairs state minister Dr. Kezimbira Miyingo has appealed to President Yoweri museveni over the delay by the NRM electoral commission to declare him winner of the Bukoto mid-west party primaries.
He has threatened to go to court should the commission chaired by Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda fail to announce him winner.
Addressing a press conference at Nakasero yesterday, Miyingo said he defeated Isaac Sejjoba by 19 votes after elections in Nakyenyi and kyawagonya parishes. He said he got 2,262 votes against Sejjoba’s 2,243 votes.
He accused the Masaka LC5 chairman, Vincent Sempijja, of fighting him.
“The district leadership has been fighting me. I am sure it (the leadership) is behind this,” Miyingo said.
“I’m disappointed by the way the matter has been handled,” he said, adding, “It appears that returning officers are paid money from time to time to change results. Declaration forms are being altered day in day out by electoral officers.”
He said Museveni was yet to reply to his letter.
