TARSIS Mathew Mutagamba, husband to the State Minister for Water, Maria Mutagamba, is dead.
Mutagamba, 70, died of heart failure on Friday morning.
“He died of cardiac arrest and has been suffering from high blood pressure. He got an immediate attack on Friday at around 3:00am and went into coma at around 7:30 m,” said the widow, Mutagamba.
She said he has been suffering from the ailment for years.
“We rushed him to Case Clinic but he was pronounced dead on arrival at around 10.30am,” Mutagamba said.
“We celebrated his birthday three days ago,” said a relative.
Mutagamba described her husband as caring, hard working and reserved.
“I will greatly miss him,” she said.
Born in Namagoma, Masaka district, Mutagamba worked with the Bank of Uganda for 17 years till his retirement in 1980.
He was the first African chief accountant at the bank.
Mutagamba is survived by 16 children and will be buried today at his Nakasozi home in Budo in Wakiso district.
