THE Vice-President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, has blamed the high level of poverty in Uganda on the belief in witchcraft.
He wondered why educated people were indulging in sorcery, a habit associated with illiterates.
“I wonder why many educated Ugandans have resorted to witchcraft instead of working hard to get rid of poverty,” Bukenya said.
Bukenya was speaking recently at a fundraising ceremony for Nakasongola Catholic Parish.
Over sh9m was raised for the completion of the parish church. Bukenya gave sh2m.
The Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Kisamba Mugerwa, gave sh1m. Mugerwa asked the residents to work hard to develop the country.
