THE uganda Law Society (ULS) has asked the Government to announce the the final road map for the constitutional review process, writes John Kakande.

ULS said the Government’s delay to publish the Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) report was exacerbating the political and constitutional uncertainty in uganda.
It urged the Government to restore constitutional certainty in the minds of Ugandans.

ULS president Andrew Kasirye recently wrote to the Attorney General, Francis Ayume, querying his silence on the current constitutional and legal issues.

“My Council is under increasing pressure from diverse quarters to pronounce itself on some of the current issues to fill the vacuum arising from the silence of the Government’s principal legal advisor,” said Kasirye in his January 30 letter.

The Attorney General, is the principal legal advisor to the Government under Article 119 of the Constitution.

Ayume yesterday said copies of the report were still being printed and would be submitted to Cabinet.

On the constitutional review process road map, Ayume said Cabinet was still discussing its aspects.

He said as soon as Cabinet decided on the road map, it would be made public.
