Mabira Crash Victims Buried In Mass Grave

THE Minister of state for transport, Andraule Awuzu, yesterday said the Government was amending the traffic and road safety act to allow for punitive and deterrent punishments for traffic offences.

THE Minister of state for transport, Andraule Awuzu, yesterday said the Government was amending the traffic and road safety act to allow for punitive and deterrent punishments for traffic offences.
He was delivering the Government’s condolence message during the mass burial of 16 of the people who died in an accident at Lwankima, Mabira on Saturday that killed 23 others. The 16 bodies were not claimed by relatives.
The grave was constructed by Lugazi town council near Kawolo hospital. Awuzu said the government was to start a road safety and awareness campaign for road users.
He warned drivers against acts of indiscipline and carelessness such as speeding, which caused loss of life. Mukono district LC5 chairman Godfrey Ddamulira and Lugazi mayor Saidi Mubarak attended.
